Charmain Williams-Farrar

Psychotherapist, LMSW, MPA

What was your path to becoming a therapist?

My path to becoming a therapist was not linear at all. I always wanted to help grow and give back. I started out in community based social work helping families and children. However, I saw that there was more growth and healing that was needed and where I was working at the time there was way to provide that type of support. I decided to try another route and that led me to obtaining my LMSW to provide growth and healing opportunities for all people from all walks of life.

What should someone know about working with you?

I believe that hurt people hurt people but I also believe that healing people heal people and freed people free people. That is the heart of the work I do. I want to empower people to walk in their healing and freedom no matter what you’ve been through healing and freedom is available. At your pace take back your peace of mind, body, and soul.

How does collaboration with other providers inform your work?

Community is power! Working with other providers allows me to learn and grow to provide the most up to date care for those I work with. Collaboration means more people working together for a common goal. I welcome the expertise, wisdom, and effective experience other providers offer. This is how elite level healing is done, in community.

What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to try therapy?

Therapy is not what you think? It’s not sitting and talking telling a stranger all your business. It’s learning tools to help you get through the various seasons on your healing journey through this thing called life. Therapy is active, healing, and empowering.
