At JK Counseling, we strive to make your journey to mental wellness as seamless as possible, including how you manage payments and insurance. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how our billing process works, especially concerning in-network and out-of-network insurances:

Understanding Insurance Coverage:

In-Network: If we are in-network with your insurance provider, we directly bill your insurance company. Your copay or coinsurance is due at the time of service. We handle all the paperwork to ensure that your sessions are covered according to your plan’s benefits.
Out-of-Network: If we are not in-network with your insurance, payment is required at the time of service. However, we make it easy to seek reimbursement through a superbill.

We currently accept insurance through:
- Aetna
- Northwell Direct
- United Healthcare
- UMR
- Oscar
- Oxford
- Private Pay
We do NOT accept:
- Medicare
- Medicaid

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a detailed form provided by us at your request. It contains all the necessary information about the therapy services you received, which you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.

How to Request and Use a Superbill:

Step 1: After your session, request a superbill from our practice. We provide this complimentary to all our clients.
Step 2: Submit the superbill to your insurance company. The superbill acts as a receipt that you can use to claim reimbursement according to your out-of-network benefits.
Step 3: Your insurance company processes your claim based on the details provided in the superbill, and you will be reimbursed directly according to your insurance plan.
