We provide couples therapy for —

  • Communication Issues: Effective communication forms the foundation of a strong relationship, and couples therapy in NYC creates a structured space where partners can learn important skills such as attentive listening, expressing themselves assertively, and engaging in non-defensive communication. By identifying and addressing communication patterns that lead to misunderstandings or conflicts, couples can enhance their ability to communicate openly, empathetically and positively.
  • Trust, Infidelity, Intimacy: Via open conversations and direct discussions, couples can get into the root causes of their issues, embark on forgiveness, and create plans to rebuild trust. Couples therapy in NYC also plays a role in reigniting intimacy by aiding couples in expressing their desires, addressing vulnerabilities, and reconstructing both emotional and physical closeness. Collaborating with a therapist allows couples to progress towards healing, rebuilding trust, and cultivating a stronger, more enduring connection.
  • Financial Strain: Financial challenges have the potential to strain communication, breed resentment, and give rise to conflicts that can adversely affect the overall health of a relationship. Couples therapy in NYC offers a neutral and supportive space where partners can openly discuss their financial concerns, goals, and values. By jointly addressing financial stress, couples can collaborate towards cultivating a healthier financial dynamic, alleviating tension, and fortifying the foundation of their relationship.

FAQs

Out of pocket cost (or private pay) can be anywhere from $185-$220 per session. If you are using insurance, speak with your insurance provider before sessions to better understand any co-insurance you are responsible for. If you need help with understanding your benefits, we have a dedicated team that would be more than willing to help.

The difference is between someone who can do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, therapy is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.” Lastly, if your situation provokes a great deal of negative emotion, if you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member, there is the risk that once you are feeling better you could start avoiding that person so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life.

Studies have shown that virtual therapy can be just as effective as traditional in-person therapy for many couples.

Sessions typically last between 50 to 60 minutes, depending on the therapist’s practice.

The first session usually involves discussing your relationship history, identifying key issues, and setting goals for the therapy.

Yes, licensed therapists are bound by confidentiality agreements, and secure platforms are used to protect your privacy.

Find a quiet, private space, ensure your technology is working, and discuss with your partner what issues you'd like to focus on during the session.

If you are concerned about your relationship, and you would both like to work with us, we would initially work with both of you together. After this work, if one of you would like to continue in individual sessions, we could work with only one of you. It is not helpful to move from an individual into a couple's work with the same therapist because of potential trust issues.
