Psychoanalysis for symptom management, understanding triggers, support and validation, enhancing quality of life, and more.

An authentic and honest exploration of feelings through psychoanalysis.

If any of these sound like you:

  • You wish there was somebody who could tell you why you constantly feel the need to please others at the expense of your own happiness and well-being.
  • You wish there was somebody who could explain why you have recurring dreams that leave you feeling anxious and unsettled when you wake up.
  • You wish there was somebody who could understand why certain seemingly trivial moments trigger intense emotional reactions that seem disproportionate.
  • You wish there was somebody who could tell you why you feel a persistent sense of emptiness, even when things in your life are going well.
  • You wish there was somebody who could help you understand why you struggle with feelings of inferiority, despite your successes and achievements.
  • You wish there was somebody who could guide you in exploring the deep-seated fears that hold you back from forming meaningful and lasting relationships.

Trying psychoanalysis could be right for you.

We provide psychoanalysis to help with…

Uncovering the Unconscious:

One of the primary focuses of psychoanalysis is to explore the unconscious mind to uncover hidden emotions, desires, and thoughts that influence behavior and thought patterns. This process involves examining dreams, free associations, and slips of the tongue to detect the underlying issues that may not be immediately apparent to the individual. By bringing these unconscious elements to the surface, psychoanalysis helps individuals understand the root causes of their distress and behavioral patterns. This deeper insight can lead to a more profound and lasting emotional and psychological change, providing relief from symptoms that have resisted other forms of treatment.

Resolving Childhood Conflicts:

Psychoanalysis emphasizes the importance of early childhood experiences in shaping an individual’s personality and behavior. It posits that unresolved conflicts from one’s early years can persist into adulthood, manifesting as psychological difficulties, relationship problems, or dysfunctional coping mechanisms. Through psychoanalysis, individuals can revisit these early experiences in a safe and supportive environment, understand their impact, and work through the emotions and conflicts they generate. This therapeutic process helps individuals resolve these long-standing issues, leading to more adaptive behaviors and healthier relationships.

Enhancing Self-Knowledge and Personal Growth:

Psychoanalysis encourages a deep exploration of one’s self, promoting greater self-knowledge and personal development. This intensive introspection helps individuals understand not just their behaviors, but also their desires, fears, and motivations at a fundamental level. As a result, people often discover new aspects of their personality and learn how to better integrate their thoughts and feelings. This increased self-awareness and comprehension can empower individuals to make more informed choices in their lives, enhance their creativity, and improve their overall mental well-being.

What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

The difference is between someone who can do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, therapy is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.” Lastly, if your situation provokes a great deal of negative emotion, if you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member, there is the risk that once you are feeling better you could start avoiding that person so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, therapy will be different depending on the individual. We tailor our therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?

We are so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication is crucial to your success. After all, we only see each other for a session a week. It’s the work you do outside of our sessions that will really help you see your personal growth and development.

My partner and I are having problems. Should we be in individual counseling or come together?

If you are concerned about your relationship, and you would both like to work with us, we would initially work with both of you together. After this work, if one of you would like to continue in individual sessions, we could work with only one of you. It is not helpful to move from individual into couple’s work with the same therapist because of potential trust issues.
